Clean and Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub Review

After taking two weeks and really not taking care of my skin, like at all, during a stressful time where I really should have been taking care of my skin I can say that my skin isn’t in the best condition right now. That’s sort of what lead me to buying a Deep Action exfoliating Scrub by Clean and Clear from Walmart the other day.

So why not review this new product that I’m just starting to use in hopes that it’ll save my skin before Friday? (Spoiler: I was lazy and there was no way this breakout is clearing up before Friday)

So the scrub comes in a really simple squeeze bottle that is opaque at the top and fades to a transparent material at the bottom. It also has a gradient from a dark blue to a teal, and  it looks nice sitting in the bathroom next to the night time face wash.

I’ve been using this once every other day to try to really get some of the gross stuff off my skin quicker, and it really did. It got a lot of the dead skin off of my face and my foundation went on so much better after. It also felt oddly nice for the “beads” to sort of really scrub. I did scrub a little too hard for like a minute where it wasn’t that comfortable, but other than that it felt really nice to use and left my skin feeling so nice after.

Overall I am going to continue this product, and you’ll see it in next week’s post My Makeup and Skin Routine Summer 2017, which will be up on Monday.

What’s your favorite part of your skin care routine? Let me know in the comments below!

Worklog: My First Doll Custom May 2017

At the beginning of the year I found Dollightful on Youtube. She makes videos about customizing dolls, and I thought that it was really cool so I decided to buy a doll and try it.

Before I started I watched a lot of videos from Dollightful as well as HeXtianMozekyto, and MariaLazar to sort of try to figure out what I was doing. They had a lot of good examples and I was able to figure out the general idea of what I needed to do when I attempted this project.

I decided to try this project with this Apple White Doll from ever after high. I got it used off of Ebay with the Raven Queen Doll because they were just sort of what I found and I didn’t want to pay full price for a doll that may end up in the trash or ruined at the end of all of this.

img_6927The first step I took was to remove her head from the body, cut off a food chunk of her hair, and take her face off . Once that was all done I was left with this.

The next thing I did was I took out the rest of her hair. This was so much harder than I thought that it would be, and took me a lot longer. As I figured out that I didn’t really know what I was doing I watched some youtube videos and actually ended up taking a flat head screw driver to try to loosen the glue and hair plugs so that they were easier to get out. This did speed up the process, but I’m not sure if it hurts the plastic at all or what.

image1 (1)For putting the hair back into her head it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, honestly. The hardest part was keeping all of the hair organized, and to be honest I don’t have a clue of how to do it well. I’m still working on it. I did end up not having enough hair, but I honestly think that if you actually figure it out a 2oz hank will do you just fine.

I decided to reroot the hair because making a wig just scared me too much for my first custom attempt.

So that’s where this project is at the moment. I’m waiting on more hair to arrive in the mail so I can continue, but it shouldn’t take too long so check back for updates later.

See you soon,

The Mini MAMABI Happy Planner

If you’re like me when you’re stressed odds are that when you’re stressed you end up going shopping and buying things that you don’t really need.

This is what happened a week or two ago for me, and now I have changed my entire planner system and everything.

About a week or two ago I ended up at the store to buy some stickers for a completely separate thing, and ended up in the planner section. I ended up buying the mini MAMBI happy planner (click here for the one that I bought). I also bought more notes pages and the daily planning pages, and now I’ve completely reworked my planner system to include this small planner.

Graduation Countdown Has Begun

I am incredibly guilty of having moments where things that I know are happening suddenly become very very real. Unlike last time, though, I can’t put this one off. The last time I had one of these moments was when Kurt asked me about a lamp and I realized that I would be moving in with him. Now we aren’t moving in together, but this time I can’t put my new “lamp” off.

Pros and Cons of Bullet Journaling

Every planner system has pros and cons, and it’s looking and figuring out those pros and cons that help us know what might work best for us. The bullet Journal is do different, and if you’re thinking about trying this system I think that you should defiantly continue reading. All of these come from my experiences with the system and no one else’s, so let’s start!

Pros

I always like to start off with the pros because if I’m telling you guys about something odds are that I already like/love it.

The first pro that I have is that the system is totally unique to you. Since you’re the one creating it on a blank page you control everything about this system, and I do love that. It also allows you to be flexible with what you need. If one week you want a horizontal spread and the next week you want daily spreads go for it, it’s all up to you. I love the flexibility with this system (partly because this semester I’ve had a lovely habit of forgetting my notebook, so my bullet journal does have some class notes). It really allows you to get what you need in one spot, and I absolutely love that because as a college student everything is always changing.

Pry my favorite thing about this system is how inexpensive it is. When I started I spent about $5 on a new notebook, but in reality I didn’t really even need to because you can use ANY notebook and any pen for this system. The initial system is super easy too (click here to go to the bullet journal website to find out more). I actually showed it to my mom at some point and she thought that it was sort of insane how simple the system was, because we should have been able to figure that out on our own. Even with the added ideas from other places (Pintrest) on the internet the system was so simple to use.

Cons

My main issue with this system is how you need to be able to sustain it on your own. There is no way around it, but if you are lazy one week and just don’t get to filling out or creating pages in your journal it will not get done. As a college student and someone with depression it can be so hard for me to get motivated sometimes, and even to do a simple spread for the week in my bullet journal can be hard sometimes. I feel like having a little bit set up for you would help, but that would take away from the point of the system.

My other issue is that as you look through the internet you can easily get discouraged with this system. When I first started to research this system I went bonkers because I couldn’t make the beautiful spread that other people could make. Although my spreads still are no where near fabulous they’re very functional and very useful to me, so I’m still getting great use out of this system.

So those are the pros and cons, as you can tell I do like this system and I will continue to use it, but you just can’t get caught up on how “pretty” your spreads look. Personally I have my Erin Condren for that, my Bullet Journal is the functional one that I want to get messy and scratch things out in.

What do you think of the bullet journal system? Have you tried it in the past? Let me know down in the comments.

See you soon,

Once More With Love Review

Over Black Friday I was sucked into the vortex of Easy and sticker shopping, but in my defense who didn’t? I decided to try a few new shops that I had heard great things about, and the first one was Once More With Love. This was pry my best purchase on Black Friday, and I am still so excited about it. You can still see a lot of her stickers in action in my plan with me Videos, which are up on my blog in various places. For more details keep reading, and let me warn you that this shop is worth reading the entire thing.

November Favorites

Although it’s a little late I wanted to share my November Favorites with all of you.

It’s been a very hard month this year because of my dad’s health issues and Gatsby’s passing, but I thought that I would bring up some happy thoughts so that everything isn’t sad and miserable.

Music

I’ve really discovered a lot of new music this month. I’ve really felt connected to these songs because of where I sort of am in life right now.

I really like the song Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing by Set It Off right now because I really do feel like that with some people in my life right now. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one who feels like that at the moment, and it reminds me that I’m not a horrible person for feeling like that.

Heathans by 21 Piolets and Mad Hatter by Melanie Martinez are also in my top songs because they sort of take me to a relaxing place and lets me dive into myself and lets me process what I’m feeling and thinking.

The Last song is Closer by Chain Smokers. I really like this song because it’s the only song at the moment that Kurt and I will agree on 100%. Hearing that song makes me feel close to him again and lets me feel like I’m not so alone.

Anime

Yes, I like anime. I’ve watched way too much of it this month.

The first show that I watched was Diabolic Lovers. I thought that it was ok, but it wasn’t my favorite. I feel like they really need to go back and figure out motives and small details that I think are going to add more to the story than what they have right now.

The next show that I watched was Dance With Devils, which I just didn’t like. I debated not even mentioning it here, but I decided to mention it and let you all know that it wasn’t that great. At all.

Then Kurt and I finally finished what we had to watch of Magi, which was a great show that I absolutely loved. We’ve already started watching Magi: Adventures of Sinbad and I am too excited about that show.

Planner

SO I don’t have a ton of favorites this month, but I wanted to mention what I do have. I really like my current Planner Cover, because let’s face it Halloween is my Holiday and I really don’t want to move on from it. I also am in love with the MissPlansPrintables Monthly kits because I feel like it comes with enough stuff that I am able to really plan out my month regardless of how busy or slow it is. I am also really liking my Bullet Journal this month because I feel like I have a place to literally just to brain dumps and be able to find the information later.

Hair/Beauty

So this month I have a few new favorites for Hair and Beauty.

I really like Manic Panic: Vampire Red because I feel like it refreshes my color and helps it fade out really nicely when I wash it. I just add a little to my conditioner, let it sit, and it works very well.

I also am in love with hair bows or beanies. I don’t know why but I always love beanies around this time of the year, pry because they’re warm and I’m always cold. I’m sort of surprised with my obsession with hair bows in the recent weeks because I feel like they’re out of season and are sort of misplaced in the middle of snow.

The last thing that I’m in love with is Tony Moly face masks. They’re a little more expensive, but they make my face feel so much better and of the ones that I’ve used they smell so nice.

So those are my favorites of the month, I hope you enjoyed! what are you obsessing over right now? Let me know in the comments!

See you soon,

~Amanda
